On an overcast day, Kingsbridge and Salcombe Hockey Club faced the top-of-the-league opposition Teign in a challenging away game, fielding only eleven players. The day turned into a bit of a black swan event, as the opposition came out strong from the whistle, scoring several goals early on. Despite this, Kingsbridge and Salcombe remained determined and worked hard as a team. After some valuable halftime coaching from Nikki, they returned to play their brand of hockey, not conceding any goals for the first 20 minutes of the second half. Though the final score wasn’t in their favour of 9-0, the team took away important lessons and showed great resilience, setting the stage for future improvement.
Player of the match votes went to Fi Douglas, Natalie Lake, Lisa Ansell Hannah Cox but just pipping it was Rachel Booton by one vote.
