KSHC 2s v Devonport Services 3s - Saturday 15th March 2025

This week the KS 2s played away against Devonport Services 3s. While it was a beautiful sunny day, but everything is colder on the Bickleigh pitch. We started with a somewhat lazy warm up but that didn’t stop us when the match started. Lisa Ansell started the game quick, instantly bringing the ball down into our opponent's end of the pitch. She was excellent at keeping the ball inside the 25. She was also great at passing in the D to someone open so they could get a shot off. Laura Hamilton was excellent up front, she works really hard to get the ball down the field, her and Emma worked so well together making small passes moving down the field. She worked hard to get the ball into the D to get a strike off or a quick pass. Unfortunately, near the end of the match she suffered from some really bad cramp! Carina Rogers could only play the first half of the match, but she made such an impact. She is so good at channelling people down the side. She was excellent positionally! She was in the perfect spot by the goal and got us our first goal of the match! Sophie Lake was in goal this week and made some amazing stops, she is so great at communicating and you can hear her sweet voice from the back encouraging the team all game long. Julie Lee was incredible this week, it honestly was her best performance of the season. She never ever stopped running, her effort was unmatched. She was excellent at the top during short corners and got back to defend. She was great in the middle, distributing the ball wide with ease. She scored a goal for us this week. With the help of Sam Webb communicating "Bring it Bring it" so Julie got to the top of the D and she did an amazing hit from the top straight in. Sam Webb was great in the midfield, she pushed herself and was quick at moving the ball down the line. Her hit from the top of the D created excellent rebounds and goal scoring opportunities.

After some sweets and a happy half time chat, we went out onto the pitch again with a pep in our step. Freya Pearce was strong in the centre mid position; she pushed the ball forward and made sure she was looking before giving the ball away. She was excellent at communicating. She would tell someone with the ball where to go or who to pass it too, it was so helpful and really positively impacted the gameplay. JL Marlin played as a forward this week, she did lots of running. She did manage to stop a goal... in the wrong end of the pitch. She somehow found herself behind the goalie and stopped an amazing hard hit from Emma with her foot. This setback didn’t stop Emma Wood, she was on another level this week. It is like she has a magnet in her stick, the other team just couldnt get it off of her. She got a hat trick this week!! She had three amazing goals. She was great at passing to move the ball up and down the pitch. Our defenders were amazing this week, they didn’t let the ball get past the halfway line. Izzy Snape in particular was amazing at this, she stopped people on the spot, not letting anyone past her, or channelling them to the outside of the pitch. Darcy Wall made some amazing runs, picking the ball up before the halfway line, bringing them down towards the D, one of which resulting in a goal. Nicky Sheppard was strong in the centre; she just runs past people and manages to take the ball with her. She also had some amazing hit outs from the 16. Mel Charnock was excellent in defence, so quick off of short corners, stopping that initial hit. She also was excellent at chasing everyone down, she is so fast. The game finished 5-1 to KS 2s. The votes were in and players of the match were Julie and Emma.
